About Jesus Salas

Jesus Salas, Senior Attorney, is based in Toledo, Ohio. Jesus has worked in legal services programs for 43 years, helping non-English populations in Texas, Montana, Oregon, and Massachusetts since 1994, for ABLE in Ohio. Jesus received his bachelor's degree in sociology/psychology and his law degree from the University of Oregon. He also studied at Oxford University in England. Among his many professional affiliations, Jesus is a member of the U.S. Hispanic Bar, Thurgood Marshall Law Association, and the Toledo Bar Association. He has served as a member of the Supreme Court of Ohio Racial Fairness Commission and the Supreme Court of Ohio Translation Committee. Throughout his career, Jesus has received specialized training on various topics, including Federal Court Litigation, Advocacy Skills, and Immigration Law. He has also shared his expertise by providing numerous Management and Supervisory Skills training seminars and courses over the years, including Diversity Training for Managers. Jesus has also been generous with his time to the Northwest Ohio community. He is Board Chair for the Toledo Lucas County Public Library. He has served on the Toledo branch of NAACP's Legal Redress Committee and as a board or committee member for the Toledo Botanical Garden, Adelante, Inc., and the Regional Transportation Study Committee. Was a member of the Supreme Court of Ohio language access committee that designed and established Rule 88 for translation/interpretation systems in the state of Ohio judicial system. Jesus grew up in El Paso, Texas, lived in Mexico for ten years, and is fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
